Introduction


  • A straight line is the shortest distance between two points.
  • A projection of line is drawn by considering its end’s distance from the reference planes (HP, VP and PP).
  • When the line is parallel to a reference plane, its view obtained on that reference plane is always parallel to x-y and shows true length (TL) of the line. 
  • Let us consider a line AB is parallel to VP as shown in Figure. Its view obtained on VP i.e. front view is always parallel to x-y and always shows TL.   


  • When the line is making angle with a reference plane, its view obtained on that plane always show reduced length.
